Are there areas that provide good bicycling or jogging?

Slow car speeds and small rural roads provide excellent walking, running and biking throughout the island.  On the main road that runs the length of the island there are sidewalks and bicycle lanes.

One of the best things about the location of the house is that once you arrive you could literally enjoy your stay without ever getting back in your vehicle.  There are shops, restaurants, general stores, and beaches all within a short distance of the house.

What are some recommended boating destinations?

Egmont Key State Park -  Located just North of the island http://www.floridastateparks.org/egmontkey/

Sunshine Skyway Bridge - not only is the bridge itself amazing to see but there is excellent fishing around the bridge and the main shipping channel (just look for all of the other boats). You can catch fish like grouper, mackerel, tarpon, snapper, and so on.

Fort Desoto Park - Located North of the island http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/05_Ft_DeSoto.htm

Simply cruise the inter-costal waterway to Sarasota Bay and enjoy the scenery, you may see a manatee or two

Venture offshore and you can find excellent deep-water fishing and/or diving spots such as wrecks, ledges, rocking bottom, and more.

If you are not someone that likes to run offshore you can find some common deep water fish such as grouper, snapper, mackerel, and tarpon inside Tampa Bay in the shipping channels and around the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. In the flats and canals around the island you can hook into redfish, trout, snook, and flounder.

What other activities can you recommend in the area?

There is plenty to do within walking distance of the house; however, if you want to shop, eat, or just see other parts of the island there is a free trolley available that runs throughout the island from 6 am-11 pm. The free trolley stops every 4-5 blocks at designated benches along Gulf Drive.  There is a stop about a block away from the house.
 
To help you understand the laid back lifestyle of the island and to top off a long day of relaxation you can enjoy an evening cocktail at anyone of the local watering holes that are within walking distance from the house.
